Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals provider, announced it has joined Together for Sustainability (TfS), a global initiative of 47 chemical companies committed to raising sustainability standards throughout the chemical industry. As part of the initiative, members commit to making sustainability improvements within their own – and their suppliers’ – operations.
“Nouryon’s membership with TfS will enhance our supplier audit capabilities and access to industry best practice,” said Stephen Hester, vice president and chief procurement officer at Nouryon. “We anticipate our customers and business partners will also appreciate the value that our TfS membership will provide as it will further enhance our ability to improve sustainability in our supply chain.”
TfS is also advancing methodologies and standardization in calculating Scope 3 (upstream) greenhouse gas emissions, which constitute a significant share of the chemical industry’s carbon footprint.
“Sustainability is a key priority for Nouryon, and we continuously challenge ourselves to enhance our sustainability performance,” said Vivi Hollertt, Nouryon vice president and chief sustainability and communications officer. “We look forward to working closely with TfS and its members to create solutions and share knowledge and expertise across the value chain.”
Nouryon was recognized with a 2022 Platinum rating by EcoVadis for its sustainability achievements. This rating places Nouryon in the top 1% of companies then assessed by the global sustainability ratings provider. Nouryon’s sustainability progress follows its second year of participating in the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, in support of its universal principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
