Northwood Heavy Duty Program to Sponsor Distributor ‘Location of the Year’ Recognition

Northwood University announced this week its Heavy Duty Program will co-sponsor a new effort to recognize the best managed heavy-duty distributor locations. The other co-sponsors are Kona Communications, the Heavy Duty Representatives’ Association (HDRA) and the Council of Fleet Specialists.

MIDLAND, MI — Northwood University announced this week its Heavy Duty Program will co-sponsor a new effort to recognize the best managed heavy-duty distributor locations. The other co-sponsors are Kona Communications, the Heavy Duty Representatives’ Association (HDRA) and the Council of Fleet Specialists.

Jim John, chairman of the Aftermarket Management Department at Northwood University, made the announcement.

“We have been part of the Truck Parts and Service (TP&S) ‘Distributor of the Year’ program and will continue with that effort,” said John. “We feel that the real action is at the location or branch level. Excellence on the local level is what we want to recognize.”

Nominees for these honors will be selected by members of HDRA. Finalists will be selected by Northwood faculty and Kona editors. Individual locations of large, multi-branch distributors as well as single location operations are candidates. Each representative firm in HDRA can nominate up to three locations.

Nominees will be profiled in stories in TP&S, and winners will receive five scholarships to future CFS Institute for Truck Parts Professional (ITPP) educational sessions. The representative nominating the winner will also receive free registration.

Deadline for nominations is January 15, 2005. Nominees will be notified in March 2005 and the winner will be announced in Truck Parts and Service’ November Northwood Support Issue.

For more information, contact Denise Rondini (TP&S 847-498-3180), Cara Giebner (HDRA 330-725-7160), or Doug Dresslaer (CFS 816-801-7964).
