NGK To Celebrate 20 Years In West Virginia

In 1995, the company opened its Sissonville, West Virginia, facility, making it the first major Japanese manufacturer in the state. Initial oxygen sensor production began in 1995 and spark plug production began in 2008.

NGK Spark Plug - LogoOn Sept. 2, NGK Spark Plugs (U.S.A.) Inc. will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Sissonville, West Virginia, manufacturing facility. In a ceremony honoring the milestone, Shinichi Odo, president of NGK Spark Plug Co. LTD will attend, along with Hitoshi Iimi, president of NGK Spark Plugs (U.S.A.) Inc. and West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.

In 1995, NGK Spark Plugs opened its doors in Sissonville, making it the first major Japanese manufacturer in the state. The state-of-the-art facility is located on a 40-acre campus, which includes manufacturing and warehouse space. Initial oxygen sensor production began in 1995 and spark plug production began in 2008.

“It is a great honor to celebrate 20 years of business in West Virginia,” said Bob Pepper, senior vice president of manufacturing at NGK Spark Plugs (U.S.A.) Inc. “This accomplishment couldn’t have been made without the tireless efforts and dedication of our associates and business partners throughout the years.”

Following a luncheon ceremony and presentation for all associates, a tree planting ceremony will take place in observance of the anniversary. The celebration will conclude with a reception and dinner at Edgewood Country Club in Charleston, West Virginia, where Odo will host Gov. Tomblin.
