Pylon, the exclusive licensee responsible for the manufacturing and marketing of the MICHELIN line of premium wiper blades, has partnered with German world record driver Rainer Zietlow on his world record attempt to drive from Alaska to Argentina in just 11 days, starting Thursday, June 20.
Zietlow plans to set a new long-distance world record on the world’s longest road, the Pan-Americana Highway, which stretches more than 16,000 miles through 14 countries from Alaska to Argentina. In less than 11 days and 17 hours Zietlow and his team aim to break a world record they previously set on the Panamericana in 2011.
Pylon is supporting the effort by equipping the team’s car with a pair of newly designed MICHELIN silicone wiper blades that the company specifically engineered to last twice as long while providing smooth, streak-free wipes and improved driver visibility. Designed to withstand even the most extreme weather conditions, they feature an advanced rubber silicone coating that resists changes to temperature and wear. The result, according to Pylon, is a wiper blade that stays flexible and resists clogging and cracking in weather from minus 80 degrees to 195 degrees. Meanwhile, the blade’s unique frameless design features infinite pressure points, reducing exposure to elements and protecting the blade from snow and debris build up for performance in any weather, the company adds.
“Our new MICHELIN silicone wiper blades are perfectly equipped to help Zietlow traverse 14 countries in record-breaking time,” said Mike Fretwell, chief marketing officer at Pylon. “At Pylon we believe in creating products that perform in real-world situations, allow clear vision and safe driving even in the harshest weather. With these wipers, we are confident Zietlow and his team will reach their final destination safely despite the unexpected conditions they might encounter along the way, and we could not be more excited to support them on their journey.”
“On such a long-distance drive, especially through such varied climates, wiper blades play a crucial role in ensuring sure our team arrives to our final destination safely,” said Zietlow. “I have no doubts that Pylon’s newest MICHELIN silicone wiper blade is the perfect choice for this challenge and that it will provide us with the durability and reliability we need to achieve our goal.”
Pylon’s continuous focus on innovation and quality has led to more than 70 patents including the patented suspension technology in MICHELIN hybrid wipers with Smart-Flex Design. Pylon also carefully tests all its products in real-world situations to ensure its blades allow clear vision and safer driving even in the harshest weather.
