Nelson Global Products Announces Restructuring Plan

The consolidation includes the closing of facilities in Clinton, Tennessee, and Cambridge, Minnesota.

Nelson Global Products Inc., a global designer, manufacturer and marketer of exhaust, tubular and emissions related products for on- and off-road vehicles, outdoor power equipment and powersports markets has announced a restructuring plan that will reduce costs and utilize excess capacity in other Nelson facilities in North America. The consolidation includes the closing of facilities in Clinton, Tennessee, and Cambridge, Minnesota.

Steve Scgalski, CEO of Nelson Global Products, said the decision to restructure was difficult, but necessary to ensure cost-effectiveness and the continued growth of the company.

“This decision is based on the need to reduce our fixed costs and better utilize our assets, which in turn will help us remain competitive in the marketplace,” he said. “This also allows us to enhance services at facilities located as close to our customers as possible. We have been providing services to our customers for over 70 years and these business-based decisions ensure that we’ll be around for many more years to come.”

The company anticipates closing the Clinton and Cambridge manufacturing plants by the end of this year. The decision affects approximately 300 Nelson employees.

“We will be working with our employees in both Clinton and Cambridge to assist them where possible, which includes financial assistance in the form of severance and retention payments,” said Scgalski. “Employees will be encouraged to apply for open positions at other facilities within Nelson Global Products.”
