NAPA Brake and Chassis Names Grand Prize Winner in Corvette Sweepstakes

Troy Casey, general manager of City Select Auto in Camden, NJ, chose the winning key that started a Corvette Convertible, making him the grand prize winner of the NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS Varsity Jacket/Corvette Sweepstakes, June 3 in Nashville, Tenn. Casey was joined in the Music City by three other regional winners, all service dealers from across the country, for an all-expense paid trip for two that included a special tour of the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Ky.

ATLANTA — Troy Casey, general manager of City Select Auto in Camden, NJ, chose the winning key that started a Corvette Convertible, making him the grand prize winner of the NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS Varsity Jacket/Corvette Sweepstakes, June 3 in Nashville, Tenn. Casey was joined in the Music City by three other regional winners, all service dealers from across the country, for an all-expense paid trip for two that included a special tour of the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Ky.

Upon arriving June 2 at the Opryland Hotel, each winner randomly selected a die-cast Corvette as a welcome gift. Unbeknownst to the four, each car was secretly numbered one to four. That number served as the picking order to select the keys for the chance to start and win the Corvette. Casey believes his good fortune started when he chose the die-cast.

“There were two yellow, one red and one silver die-cast Corvettes to select from,” he said. “I remember the promotional poster for the sweepstakes had a picture of a silver Corvette. So I picked that one and it was labeled No. 1.”

With his No. 1 pick, Casey continued looking for more karma as to which key to pick. Several clues the next day on the Corvette tour all pointed to one number – three.

“My birthday is April 3, and my friend who was along with me said to pick No. 3 as my first choice,” Casey said. “Then during the tour I saw four Corvettes off the assembly line and each of them had a No. 3 on them. I don’t know what that meant, but I knew I was going to choose No. 3.”

Following the tour Casey chose first, selecting the third NAPA hat and the key that went along with it. Following a tour of the Corvette museum, it was time to determine a winner. And Casey wasted little time in seizing the moment.

“I got in the car, pushed the start button and the Corvette started right up,” he said. “I started yelling, ‘I can’t believe it!’ I was trying to be calm, cool and collected, but when you win a Corvette it’s hard to be calm, cool and collected.”

The 2005 Corvette features keyless access with a push-button start. Instead of using of a traditional key, drivers simply need the presence of a key fob in their pocket or purse to have access to the vehicle.

Casey was given the option of choosing the 2005 model or a collector’s edition 1965 Corvette Convertible. He choose the 2005 model valued at more than $52,000.

The Varsity Jacket/Corvette Sweepstakes is one way NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS thanks and rewards its customers for the loyalty they show to the NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS brand.

“Our customers are the key to making NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS successful,” said Bill Smith, director of marketing for NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS. “We had an outstanding group of winners join us in Nashville for three days – they’re the reason why we’re here. I’m very happy for Troy and his family. Everyone here walked away a winner.”

Including Casey, the four regional winners were:

* Glenn Armbruster – I-70 Truck Repair, Hays, Kan.
* Troy Casey – City Select Auto, Camden, NJ
* Billy Fontenat – Billy Fontenat Professional Auto, Lake Charles, La.
* John Vanderhelm – Ace Equipment Inc., Ripon, Calif.

Thousands of service dealers participated in the NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS Varsity Jacket/Corvette Sweepstakes by placing an order for an exclusive NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS race team varsity jacket – each one customized with the car number and signature of their favorite NASCAR driver.

Sweepstakes participants were able to earn back the cost of the jacket with each purchase of NAPA Application Engineered pads, shoes, calipers, drums and rotors; NAPA Ceramix pads; NAPA Precision Engineered chassis parts; NAPA Professional Grade semi-loaded calipers; NAPA brake boosters; NAPA steel brake line and wheel stud and nut assortments; and NAPA Safety Stop pads and shoes.

“I’d like to thank NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS for their support,” Casey said. “I buy their products, bought their jacket and won the Corvette. What else can I say? It was just a wonderful event. The Corvette was just the icing on the cake to a great weekend.

“NAPA BRAKE and CHASSIS gave a guy like me, who couldn’t afford to buy a Corvette, the chance to win one. And I’m just a regular Joe. I couldn’t be more grateful.”
