From Tire Review
Lakeland, Florida-based McGee Auto Service and Tires has been sold to New York-based Monro Muffler Brake Inc. McGee Auto Service and Tires was a 2012 Tire Review Top Shop Award finalist and operates 30 locations <> in Florida.
According to McGee, Monro Muffler Brake will purchase all of McGee’s retail and commercial stores and will continue to operate all of those locations. Monro also will retain McGee’s current associates and plans to grow McGee’s retail and commercial businesses in the Florida market, the tire dealer told Tire Review.
McGee Auto Service and Tires first opened as two OK Tire Store outlets in 1974. Former McGee President Mike McGee helped grow the business with his father and business founder, John McGee. Mike retired in 2014. The business has since been operated by Mike’s son Kevin McGee, president; Bob Lanpher, chief operating officer, and Terry Borglund, chief financial officer.
“This transaction will provide greater opportunity for personal and professional growth to our associates, thus allowing the company to continue its legacy of success long into the future with Monro,” Kevin McGee, president of Mcgee, told Tire Review. “I am excited about our company’s future, and Bob Lanpher and I are continuing our career with Monro to assist in their rapid growth and future expansion plans.”
These locations add to Monro’s 53 Florida locations. The transaction is set to close May 1.
