RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) was presented with four award by the International Society for Vehicle Preservation for its 100th anniversary materials – including “Best in Show” in the graphics category for its commemorative anniversary poster. The awards were presented Nov. 16 in New York.
In addition to the “Best in Show” award, the MEMA anniversary poster also won the Gold Award for graphics. The poster by Charles Maher of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., depicted four of the most popular vehicles of the past century, with the emphasis on the parts that made them special.
The anniversary edition of Focus, MEMA’s award-winning quarterly magazine, won the Gold Award for magazine, best single issue for under 20,000 circulation. The magazine, which was co-published by Babcox Publications, featured articles highlighting the history of automotive suppliers and the association’s 100-year tradition of promoting and supporting the aftermarket, heavy duty and original equipment market segments.
MEMA’s anniversary video, “MEMA: The Importance of the Automotive Supplier,” won the Silver Award in the video reference category. Narrated by noted automotive industry analyst John McElroy, the host of “Autoline Detroit,” the 11-minute video demonstrates the importance of the motor vehicle product manufacturing industry to the overall automotive industry and to the American economy.
“This past year was a special year for the association and we owe it all to our members who made it possible,” said Neal Zipser, vice president of marketing and communications. “2004 was dubbed the ‘year of the car’ at the North American International Auto Show but MEMA considers 2004 the year of the supplier. The goal of our anniversary campaign was to salute the product manufacturers who have driven the advancement of the automotive and heavy duty industries through superior innovation, technology, service and support. We are certainly proud to be recognized for our efforts over the past year and thank the Society for the prestigious awards,” he noted.
A limited number of commemorative anniversary posters, special issues of “Focus” and the anniversary video are still available at no charge. Contact [email protected] for more information.
