LANSDALE, PA — Elvis Hoffpauir, president and COO of the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide recently addressed the attendees of the Workshop on Technology Cooperation for Next-Generation Mobile Air Conditioning in New Delhi, India.
The workshop, which took place March 3-4, was a joint effort of The Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India (MoEF), Indian Institute of Technology-New Delhi (IIT), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), United Nations Environment Programme (UNDP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the Government of Finland.
In his presentation to the 60-plus attendees, Hoffpauir discussed training and certification for the service sector. Attendees included stakeholders from Indian and international automobile manufacturers, component manufacturers, refrigerant suppliers, government officials, policymakers, academia and other parties interested in mobile air conditioning.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss recent changes in regulatory policy and corporate leadership that are advancing the development of new environmentally-superior mobile air conditioning technology. India and countries with developing economies are uniquely placed to avoid the problems of obsolete technology and to take advantage of recent technological advances.
Other featured speakers at the workshop included Rajendra Pachauri, chairman, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; Rajendra Shende, United Nations Environment Programme; Suely Carvalho, United Nations Development Programme; Peter Horrocks, European Commission; Mack McFarland, Dupont; Denis Clodic, Ecole des Mines des Paris; James Baker, Delphi; Dr. Stephen O. Andersen, United States Environmental Protection Agency and representatives from the California Air Resources Board, General Motors and the Government of Finland.
