LAS VEGAS — Scott Meyer, retired president of Ken-Tool in Akron, Ohio, and past chairman of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association’s (MEMA) , was presented the Triangle Award, MEMA’s highest honor, last night during the association’s Executive Reception in Las Vegas.

In addition to his more than 30 years in the tool industry, Meyer has been a member of MEMA’s board of directors for the past 18 years. He also served as recent interim president of the organization, prior to naming Bob McKenna to the post.

“Scott has been truly unselfish with the time he has given to the industry. It’s people like Scott who help keep our industry on the right track,” said MEMA Chairman Alan Dawes, vice chairman and CFO of Delphi Corp., Troy, Mich.

“For the past two years, Scott also has been instrumental in enhancing MEMA’s value to our members during a critical time for the association and for the industry,” he said. “In addition to being chairman, Scott stepped up and served as interim president during a change in leadership and the transition was seamless,” Dawes added.

Meyer assumed the duties of interim president of MEMA in June 2004, and served in that capacity until Bob McKenna was named the new president in October. He was the association’s 2003-2004 chairman.

He became Ken-Tool’s vice president and general manager in 1987 when the company was a division of Warren Tool Corp.

In addition to his service as MEMA board chairman and interim president, Meyer is a past advisory board member of Management Information Services Group (MISG), a commercial division of MEMA. He is a past director of the MEMA Automotive President’s Council and past member of the Joint Management Operating Committee of The University of the Aftermarket.
