Brian Tarnacki, AAP, a widely respected expert in building strong brands at every level of the Auto Care industry, has established Motor City Brandcraft, a strategic marketing firm. Tarnacki brings 35 years of experience as a brand champion with parts suppliers and leading advertising/marketing agencies to his newly launched firm.
Dedicated to helping auto care companies build powerful brands by using proven disciplines in the art and science of marketing, Motor City Brandcraft offers a comprehensive suite of services that include using market research to assess brand health and uncover market opportunities; positioning brands; creating advertising campaigns, packaging, collateral, digital and other manifestations of the brand; and exploring then launching new products into the market.
“Having a breadth of global experience, combined with unique marketing expertise enables me and my associates to engage with clients in ways that provide the greatest business value, whether serving in a retained capacity or providing a variety of discrete agency or advisory services on a project basis,” said Tarnacki, who has helped accelerate the growth of many of the industry’s strongest brands, including ANCO, Fel-Pro, MOOG, Champion, Wagner, Monroe, Walker, Rancho and Bosch. In addition to his more than 19 years with Federal-Mogul Motorparts (DRiV Incorporated), Tarnacki managed brands with Tenneco and was a partner with J. Walter Thompson Advertising Worldwide. He also worked at other leading advertising agencies, including BBDO and Doner.
Tarnacki was a longstanding member of the Auto Care Association Marketing and Communications Committee, through which he was instrumental in developing the industry’s “Be Car Care Aware” campaign. He also participated in the association’s Category Management and Market Intelligence committees.
As a founding member of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Marketing Executives Council, he helped create the “Know Your Parts” campaign, aimed at helping service providers and consumers understand the importance of choosing quality replacement components from trusted brands and suppliers. He also is a past board member of the Automotive Communications Council and a longtime presenter for the University of the Aftermarket’s “Aftermarket 101” program.
