Lavon Miller’s Firepunk Diesel Truck Gets A New Owner In Josh Scruggs; Hot Shot’s Secret To Continue Sponsorship

Scruggs, of Triple Hart Repair and Fab located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, started racing in Honda classes and has since moved into diesel converting a ’96 Dodge into a pulling truck then trading for a 1986 drag truck with a 6.7L, 400% injectors, S480 turbo and raced 5.90 index to win the 2018 Rudy’s Fall Truck Jam.

Josh Scruggs is the new owner of the Firepunk Diesel truck formerly owned by 3x Ultimate Callout Challenge (UCC) champion, Lavon Miller. What once was Miller’s daily driver, this truck is today known for setting records at the Diesel Power Challenge, NHRDA drag strips and sled pull competitions, and for achieving a sub five-second run at more than 150 mph Pro-Street record at Outlaw Diesel Super Series (ODSS.) Now, this 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 will be piloted by Josh Scruggs for the 2019 diesel drag race season.

Hot Shot’s Secret has long been a sponsor of the entire Firepunk Diesel team working first with Lavon Miller to test the company’s diesel race products and Adrenaline Racing Oil on the famed 2,300 hp 3,400 lb-ft. of torque race truck. In 2019, Hot Shot’s Secret will continue to support Scruggs for the 2019 season with products that have helped fuel past wins: Hot Shot’s Secret Adrenaline Racing Oil, Adrenaline Racing Transmission Fluid and more.

Scruggs says, “A lot of people will be watching with their own expectations, to see if I can live up to what has come before. I hope to eventually get to where Lavon was, and many have already stepped up to help. For right now though, we are just trying to get it ready for the season.”

As a manufacturer of a full line of high-performance diesel fuel and oil additives, Lubrication Specialties Inc. (LSI), manufacturer of the line of Hot Shot’s Secret brand of racing oil and performance additives, was title sponsor of NHRDA for two years and a UCC and ODSS sponsor for numerous years.

“We are super excited for what the 2019 season brings and look forward to our partnership with Josh as he rebrands the Firepunk Diesel truck and makes his own modifications to Miller’s iconic truck. The torch is being passed on, which is exciting, and we have high hopes that this truck will continue to dominate. We wish only the best to Josh and his entire team,” said LSI Director of Sales Kyle Fischer.
