Larry Silvey Launches New Automotive Marketing Firm

In making this move, Silvey will leave his position as the chair of Northwood University's Aftermarket Management program on Aug. 15.

SILVER LAKE, Ohio – Automotive industry veteran Larry Silvey has launched Larry Silvey Media LLC, an automotive marketing firm that will specialize in accounts across the automotive spectrum.

Silvey has served various aspects of the automotive sector for more than 30 years, including in publishing, research, education, marketing and public relations. Silvey’s primary areas of expertise are in replacement parts (distribution and repair), collision repair, specialty automotive and heavy-duty truck, but also include an array of other motor vehicle segments, including the OEM/dealership business.

In making this move, Silvey will leave his position as the chair of Northwood University’s Aftermarket Management program on Aug. 15.

According to Silvey, his main focus was to raise the program’s academic standards, as well as continue the program’s rich reputation in the marketplace.

“As enticing as an entrepreneurship is, my decision was not an easy one,” Silvey said. “The reward of preparing young people for automotive careers has been the greatest experience of my working career. Knowing that I have contributed to their success, as well as to the success of the companies who hire them, is something that will always be special to me.”

According to Silvey, he will jump into his new venture “with a vengeance” but will assist the university in finding a qualified replacement.

“I will seek clients in all segments of the automotive business,” Silvey added. “However, I am looking for ones where innovation and competitor differentiation are driving forces.”
