FONTANA, CA– Kumho Tire has issued a notice that the company has temporarily suspended sales of its ECSTA V710 Competition Tire due to inconsistencies that have come up in indoor testing. Test results indicated problems relating to tread splice and tread area durability. An investigation into the cause of the inconsistencies has taken place and modifications to the product and production methods have been made, said the company.

Since its debut in January, the tire has won several races and set several track records, and there have been no tire failures on the track, a Kumho representative stated in the notice.

Kumho is currently collecting the V710s that have been sold to consumers, approximately 1,400 tires, and supplying them with a replacement set of Victoracers or ECSTA V700s, as well as a certificate for another set of V710s when the tire is available for sale again, in approximately 45 to 60 days.
