AKRON, OH — Babcox Publications has announced the appointment of Jon Owens as publisher of BodyShop Business magazine.
Owens’ new responsibilities are in addition to his current position as publisher of Counterman magazine, aftermarketNews.com and AAPEX Today, the official show daily of the AAPEX show in Las Vegas. Owens replaces Denise Lloyd, who has resigned from the company. Lloyd joined Babcox in 1979. In 1982 she became the first editor of BodyShop Business and was promoted to publisher four years later.
“I look forward to joining the BodyShop Business team, learning more about this market and meeting the suppliers and body shops who serve this $30 billion industry,” said Owens.
Owens is a frequent speaker at industry meetings and conventions and is very involved in industry volunteer activities. He currently serves on the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association’s Show Committee and Board of Directors. He previously served four years on the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) Board, was Chairman of the AWDA Young Executive Society and received AWDA’s prestigious Pursuit of Excellence Award in 2002.
That same year, he received the Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Education Award. A past president of the Automotive Communications Council, Owens holds an AAP degree from the University of the Aftermarket. He is a graduate of Defiance College.
Prior to joining Babcox, Owens was with The Timken Co. for 15 years and was manager of its Automotive Aftermarket Division. Jon and his wife Sue live in Medina, OH.
