AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — BorgWarner has named John Sanderson, 56, president and general manager of BorgWarner Transmission Systems, Drivetrain Group, and vice president of BorgWarner Inc. He succeeds Bernd Matthes who has been appointed to the newly created position of president of Transmission Joint Ventures, in addition to serving as a vice president of BorgWarner Inc.
Sanderson brings with him more than 20 years of automotive experience. He most recently held the position of president and CEO, Americas for Siemens VDO, a position he has held sine 2000. In that role, he was responsible for growing component sales organically and through mergers and acquisitions with strong focus upon technology leadership and strict financial discipline. He served in a variety of senior roles for Siemens including vice president and general manager, Powertrain Gasoline Systems.
Sanderson is a graduate of the B.S. and MBA programs at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
