TROY, MI — Intermet Corp., a manufacturer of cast-metal automotive components, has promoted John Rutherford to the position of vice president of sales and marketing. He will also become a member of the company’s corporate operating committee.
Rutherford, who most recently was director of sales for Intermet, replaces Terry Graessle, who has left the company for an opportunity outside the automotive industry. The change took effect Aug. 12.
Rutherford joined Intermet in June 2003 from Eastern Alloys, Inc., in Maybrook, N.Y., where he served as vice president of sales and marketing. Prior to Eastern Alloys, he was vice president of business development at Dynacast/SPM NA in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., where he was responsible for the company’s North American sales, marketing and strategic planning. Before Dynacast, Rutherford was vice president of sales and marketing at Magnesium Aluminum Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his career in metals and casting at Aluminum Smelting and Refining Co., Inc., ultimately becoming president and CEO of the company.
