As part of its continued mission to better serve customers across the world, International Brake Industries (IBI) recently expanded its global footprint with the opening of IBI Latin America, a new distribution facility in Monterrey, Mexico.
The newly constructed facility – initially 50,000 square feet with additional space for future expansion – will support the assembly and distribution of IBI’s brake hardware products and kits for customers throughout North America. The facility is strategically located near major highways to allow IBI to nimbly respond to growing customer orders in the area. Operations launched late last year.
“IBI is always striving to make business easier for our customers,” said Andy Mayfield, chief commercial officer of International Brake Industries. “With IBI Latin America, products will get to our customers in the region faster and more efficiently, providing them inventory flexibility and savings.”
The new facility is the second major expansion for the company in recent years. In 2019, IBI expanded its footprint into the Asia Pacific region with IBI Auto Components Shanghai, a new facility in Shanghai, China. “IBI has been the leader in the U.S. brake hardware business for more than 50 years,” said Mayfield. “With these new facilities, we are utilizing all the best practices we’ve learned to provide optimal support for our customers in North America and Asia.”
IBI says it maintains a leadership position in the market with an in-house engineering and design team, robust customer service and a keen focus on high quality standards. The new IBI Latin America facility will distribute thousands of different part numbers to customers throughout North America. IBI is currently filling positions for the new facility with local talent and plans to further invest in Mexico as the market grows.
