CHANTILLY, VA — During the 2004 International Big R Show in Las Vegas, Fernand Weiland of FJW Consulting (Cologne, Germany), will moderate a free workshop on electronics and mechatronics and the impact that electronics has on products that are currently only mechanical or electrical in nature.
The workshop, scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 30th from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., will consist of three presentations. Weiland will speak about the different stages of combining starter motors and generators and also about how the industry will move to hybrid electrical powertrains. Following this will be a presentation from Flight Systems of Lewisberry, Penn., a remanufacturer of Automotive Electronic controllers. They will talk about the different automotive electronic units and the challenges of remanufacturing these units, which most of the time will be part of the main mechanical / hydraulic / electrical component. Finally, Robert Bosch Corp. (Reutlingen, Germany) will present its latest developments in terms of rectifiers and electronics. The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion focusing on how remanufacturers will have to change in order to ensure that they stay in touch with these very challenging future changes.
This workshop is free to all convention attendees.
