AKRON, OHIO — Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems subsidiary has signed an agreement to assume operation of eight Pilot Truck Care Centers in five states.
The new, Goodyear-operated Pilot Truck Care Centers will provide trucking fleets with new tires, retreads, limited mechanical service, preventive maintenance, and roadside assistance, as well as an “on-highway” presence, Goodyear said in a release announcing the agreement. The Truck Care Centers will retain the Pilot name, according to the announcement.
Goodyear also stated that, although Pilot Truck Care Centers are currently in eight locations, the two parties hope to expand by the end of this year.
With the agreement, “Goodyear greatly expands its truck service network, and Pilot instantly becomes a one-stop shopping experience for drivers of commercial trucks,” said Steve McClellan, vice president of Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems.
Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems operates 171 commercial tire sales, service and retread facilities in the U.S. Pilot Travel Centers operates 271 travel centers in 40 states and licenses 13 locations throughout Kansas, Montana, Iowa and Nebraska.
