Goodyear plans to invest $17.7 million in its Kelly-Springfield tire plant in Fayetteville, NC. The company said the investment will help improve the plant’s competitive position and meet consumer demand for premium and high performance tires. The modernization project is tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of 2004.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Goodyear plans to invest $17.7 million in its Kelly-Springfield tire plant in Fayetteville, NC. The company said the investment will help improve the plant’s competitive position and meet consumer demand for premium and high performance tires. The modernization project is tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of 2004.

“These improvements will allow the plant to adapt its operations to meet market demands for premium products such as 20-inch and high performance tires,” said Jim Konneker, plant manager at the Kelly-Fayetteville facility.

Konneker noted, however, that the investment will not add square footage, increase daily capacity or require the addition of new employees.
