AKRON, OH — Goodyear Chairman and CEO Robert Keegan has been elected to the board of directors of Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. in Kobe, Japan.

Goodyear and Sumitomo Rubber Industries have six joint venture businesses in North America, Europe and Japan. In addition, the two companies each hold common stock in the other.

Keegan has been Goodyear’s chairman of the board since July 2003. He was elected CEO in January 2003 and president in October 2000.

As one of the world’s largest tire companies, Goodyear manufactures tires, engineered rubber products and chemicals in more than 90 facilities in 28 countries.
