General Tire Renews ARCA Partnership, Adds Charlotte Race

In addition to the multi-year agreement, General Tire also announced it will title sponsor the "General Tire 150" held at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24, 2018.

General Tire has renewed its partnership with the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) racing series presented by Menards. The renewal continues General Tire’s status as the “Official Tire” of the series. In addition to the multi-year agreement, General Tire also announced it will title sponsor the “General Tire 150” held at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24, 2018.

“We’re pleased to announce the extension of our partnership with ARCA and look forward to expanding our presence in the sport by adding the General Tire 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire. “Our team has worked hard to help grow ARCA and provide competitive, action-packed racing each week for the fans. We’re eager to work with ARCA to help expand both our brands even more.”

Since 2016, General Tire’s participation in ARCA has included race entitlements, driver and team awards, as well as at-track activation and hospitality. It’s a partnership that continues to grow into 2018 and beyond, says the company.

“General Tire’s strategic partnership with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is extensive,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “The series as a whole has benefited from General Tire’s participation, which includes supplying all tires used in competition, race event entitlements, the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge, the General Tire Pole Award, media support, onboard camera placement, trackside signage and at-track activation. We will continue to build on the relationship we established in 2016.”

The addition of the General Tire 150 to General Tire’s list of race entitlement sponsorships is a notable addition for the 100-year-old brand. The May race marks the return of ARCA to the legendary 1.5-mile oval since 2004. In total, 20 ARCA races have been held at Charlotte Motor Speedway dating back to 1964 when Curtis Turner walked away with the win.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway’s stature in stock car racing makes it a top-tier destination,” said Drager. “We appreciate the opportunity to return to Charlotte in 2018, especially in partnership with General Tire, our Official Tire Partner. We look forward to an exciting General Tire 150 next May 24.”

“Charlotte Motor Speedway is all about entertaining the fans, so we’re thrilled to add ARCA racing to our lineup of unmatched motorsports entertainment during the 10 Days of NASCAR Thunder,” said Greg Walter, Charlotte Motor Speedway executive vice president. “We’re also proud to add General Tire to our portfolio of entitlement sponsors dedicated to producing the best experience for the fans. The ARCA Racing Series has showcased some spectacularly successful drivers in the recent past like Joey Logano, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson. We’re sure that another rising star will make a name for himself on our world-class stage during pole night next May.”

Located in Fort Mill, South Carolina, the Charlotte race could be considered the “home race” for General Tire. “With over 500 employees working in our corporate headquarters located just south of Charlotte, we wanted to bring a race close to home for them, in addition to the many dedicated racing fans in the area.” Roffler continued, “It’s going to be a great way to kick off such a fun holiday weekend at the speedway.”
