G-Oil Passes Engine Test Criteria for API “SM” Certification; Product Now Available in Bulk

API'S SM rating is the highest rating for gasoline engine oil certification.

LAS VEGAS – Green Earth Technologies’ G-OIL biodegradable green motor oils met and passed all the engine test criteria for The American Petroleum Institute (API) SM Certification. G-OIL is American-produced motor oil made with domestic animal fats.

API’S SM rating is the highest rating for gasoline engine oil certification. Tests were conducted by a nationally recognized independent third party testing facility.  G-OIL is the first and only bio-based motor oil to receive this certification. According to statistical data from the American Chemistry Council, less than 42 percent of motor oils are successful in passing the API SM engine tests, which are designed for crude base oils, making the fact that the bio-based G-OIL passed even more significant, the company said.

Green Earth Technologies also announced this week that its green motor oils are now being offered in a bulk program. The new bulk program will allow customers to purchase G-OIL 10W-30, 5W-30, 10W-40 and SAE 30 in 55 gallon drums, 275 gallon totes and 6,750 gallon tankers.

The retail distributors targeted in the program make up roughly 45 percent of the U.S. motor oil marketplace that supply motor oil to fast lubes, dealerships and other locations that provide oil change services for the DIFM or “do-it-for-me” consumers.

“The overwhelming response we received from fast lube customers and motor oil distributors at AAPEX proves we can quickly provide a green solution to a network of folks who satisfy the do-it-for-me category,” said Jeff Marshall, president & CEO of Green Earth Technologies. “G-OIL will create a new green category for this channel that typically offers oil change services to consumers with either a ‘price’ selection, or national conventional oil or synthetic oil brand choices.”
