DaimlerChrysler AG’s Freightliner unit, the largest North American heavy-truck maker, expects record profit this year and next before new U.S. pollution rules slow the truck market in 2007, the unit’s CEO said.
Freightliner revenue should increase to a record $15 billion this year from $12.4 billion in 2004 and rise again in 2006 as demand remains strong for heavy trucks, Freightliner CEO Chris Patterson said in an interview in Washington last week. He declined to disclose a specific profit figure beyond saying it would be a record.
