Free Cost-Reduction Seminar Offered by Aftermarket Suppliers Group, American Express

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) and American Express Business Tax and Business Services Inc. are offering a free seminar, “Cost Reduction: Turning a Threat into an Opportunity and Reducing Costs While Improving Quality.” The seminar will be held from 9 - 11:30 a.m. in two locations: Wednesday, May 18, at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn, and Thursday, May 19, Doubletree Hotel Chicago O’Hare Airport in Rosemont, Ill.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) and American Express Business Tax and Business Services Inc. are offering a free seminar, “Cost Reduction: Turning a Threat into an Opportunity and Reducing Costs While Improving Quality.” The seminar will be held from 9 – 11:30 a.m. in two locations: Wednesday, May 18, at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn, and Thursday, May 19, Doubletree Hotel Chicago O’Hare Airport in Rosemont, Ill.

Seminar attendees also may attend the AASA Small & Medium Manufacturers Council (SMMC) meeting, which follows at noon on May 18 and 19. The SMMC program, which will take place 12:45 – 5 p.m., will include a presentation by Earl Losey, vice president of Management Information Systems Group Inc. (MISG) on the e-business solutions offered by the commercial services division of MEMA.

Paul Foley, vice president of AASA, will discuss MEMA’s anti-counterfeiting initiatives and give an update on the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), slated for Nov. 1- 4. The meeting will conclude with an open discussion of current industry topics such as supply chain, data warehouse and the proposed Right to Repair legislation.

The American Express roundtable discussion will be hosted by Byron Schneidman, director, automotive aftermarket industry group, and led by Wendell B. Leimbach, CMfgE, director, manufacturing, logistics and engineering consulting group, both of American Express Tax and Business Services.

The discussion will address ways to achieve financial savings through inventory reduction; maximizing utilization of equipment; labor savings and productivity improvements; concurrent design; visual management tools and tax planning.

The next SMMC meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10, in Dearborn and Thursday, Aug. 11, in Rosemont, Ill.
