Ford Motor Co. will temporarily shutter 11 plants in North America this quarter, according to a new report from Bloomberg News. The automaker is idling the plants in response to an 18 percent drop in sales this year, the report said.
The vehicle assembly factories are located in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Ontario and Mexico, and in total employ around 23,000 workers. The various plants will be shut down from one to three weeks, depending on location.
