Ford Halts Georgia Plant Output for Lack of Parts

Ford Motor Co. said on Monday it has stopped production at its assembly plant in Georgia for at least a day because of lack of parts. "There is a parts shortage," said Ford spokeswoman Anne Booker. "Production is suspended for today." The plant, based in Hapeville, Ga., makes Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable cars.

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. said on Monday it has stopped production at its assembly plant in Georgia for at least a day because of lack of parts.

“There is a parts shortage,” said Ford spokeswoman Anne Booker. “Production is suspended for today.” The plant, based in Hapeville, Ga., makes Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable cars.

Booker declined to give details on the shortage or say when production would resume. “They are now trying to get the parts,” she said.

The plant employs about 2,200 people.

All the salaried employees and skilled trade people are working, Booker added.
