NEW YORK — Since 1999, Forbes magazine has published annually its Forbes 400 Platinum list, which picks the “Best Big Companies” from 26 different industries. There were a number of notable automotive, aftermarket and transportation names among the list this year.
To make the running, a company must have at least $1 billion in revenue and high rankings for corporate practices as well as long- and short-term sales and earnings growth and stock market performance. Below is a list of a few familiar industry names, in alphabetical order:

After meeting the first set qualifications, the magazine’s editors and writers picked the best managed company in each industry. Only two of the automotive-related companies that made it to the overall list were named “Best Managed.” Those two were: Advance Auto Parts and Caterpillar.
