Federal-Mogul Motorparts has introduced an array of packaging-related product security features for its complete range of FP Diesel replacement engine and sealing components. The brand protection solutions initiative was launched to thwart counterfeiting and to ensure that genuine FP Diesel products are offered as premium-quality repair solutions.
Originating from Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ manufacturing facility in Skokie, Illinois, the cartons include automated authentication package labels, offering an easy way to confirm that the product is genuine anywhere in the world. Known as SmartAuthentication, this track-and-trace feature uses the product’s serial number to locate it along the distribution channel, while a mobile app enables customs officials to quickly and easily authenticate each product.
For end customers, it is easy to determine if your FP Diesel product is authentic by using the SmartAuthentication Data Metric code that can be read via scanner or through your smartphone. Apps are available for download for Android, Apple, Blackberry and Windows devices.
In addition, the unique alphanumeric validation code on the product label can be entered on the website for validation.
“Protecting the integrity of the FP Diesel brand is imperative for the success of Federal-Mogul Motorparts and each of our channel partners and engine professionals who rely on our world-class products,” said Max Faistenhammer, manager, brand protection and security. “The brand protection labeling features combine overt, covert and forensic levels of security allowing, customers to quickly verify that the product they are installing is a genuine FP Diesel part.”
The FP Diesel product line includes: in-frame and complete engine overhaul kits, engine bearings, liners, connecting rods, gaskets and gasket sets, valves and valve train components, camshafts, oil pumps, turbocharger components, fuel system parts and more.
