ExxonMobil Brings Two New Motor Oil Formulas to Market

ExxonMobil has unveiled a new synthetic motor oil for light trucks and SUVs. The new Mobil 1 Truck & SUV Formula, designed for use in both gasoline and diesel engines, protects truck and SUV engines in high temperature conditions, according to the company. The company also recently introduced its new Mobil 1 Racing 0W-30 formula, designed to give high-performance automotive enthusiasts the same boost and protection as professional race car drivers.

FAIRFAX, VA — ExxonMobil has unveiled a new synthetic motor oil for light trucks and SUVs. The new Mobil 1 Truck & SUV Formula, designed for use in both gasoline and diesel engines, protects truck and SUV engines in high temperature conditions, according to the company.

The synthetic formula uses special additives designed specifically to keep light truck and SUV engines clearer than conventional motor oils, by providing resistance to high-temperature varnish and low-temperature sludge deposits that can dirty an engine and rob performance, the company said. It also provides protection against wear and corrosion for critical engine parts.

“With Americans buying approximately nine million new trucks and SUVs every year, it was important for Mobil 1 to develop a product that meets the distinct needs of SUV and truck engines, and the driving conditions their owners put them through,” said Jeff Jones, lubricants product manager for ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties. “Mobil 1 Truck Formula is a high-performance motor oil for gasoline and diesel engines, making it a one-stop solution for light truck and SUV owners who want their motor oil to outperform all others.”

The company also recently introduced its new Mobil 1 Racing 0W-30 formula, designed to give high-performance automotive enthusiasts the same boost and protection as professional race car drivers. Previously available only to professional racing teams, the formula combines Mobil 1’s patented SuperSyn technology with boosted levels of anti-wear additives. The oil is recommended for professional and amateur horsepower enthusiasts.

“We developed Mobil 1 Racing for people who live to drive high-performance cars,” said Tom Olszewski, technical services advisor at ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties. “Whether they put Mobil 1 Racing in their Honda Civic or Grand Prix GTP supercharged engine, drivers are going to notice a difference in how long their engine lasts and how well it performs under extreme driving conditions.”

Both products will be available early spring 2004 and will be sold through retail and mass merchandisers, auto parts stores, Mobil service stations and some Exxon service stations.
