AKRON, OH — A former Detroit executive has been named vice president and general manager of Alcoa’s Warrick Operations – the highest position at the facility, the company said Thursday. Michael Lucas, who began his duties Monday, came to Alcoa from Piston Automotive, a diversified company that provides manufacturing, assembly and logistics services to the automobile industry. He served as chief operations officer for Piston.
Lucas will succeed Mel Lager, who was promoted to vice president and general manager of Alcoa’s Tennessee Operations near Knoxville. Lager had been in the position since October 1998.
Prior to his position at Piston, Lucas worked for Freightliner Corp., Kenworth Truck and Ford Motor Co. as a production manager and supervisor, manufacturing planning specialist, final assembly superintendent, assistant plant manager and operations director.
Lucas will report to Mike Coleman, president of the Rigid Packaging Division, which is at the Tennessee Operations facility.
