Eighty-Six Percent of AMN Readers Report that Business is Good

From something as uncontrollable and unpredictable as the weather to specific actions aimed at eliciting a specific response, readers who responded to last week's poll gave us a good idea of what's impacting their businesses these days. More than 85 percent of respondents to last week's poll (Are your sales up compared to last year?) said sales are up for their company compared to the same time last year. "Sales are up. Profit is up," commented one reader. "If you have the inventory and the people, this is going to be an excellent year."

AKRON, OH — From something as uncontrollable and unpredictable as the weather to specific actions aimed at eliciting a specific response, readers who responded to last week’s poll gave us a good idea of what’s impacting their businesses these days.

More than 85 percent of respondents to last week’s poll (Are your sales up compared to last year?) said sales are up for their company compared to the same time last year. “Sales are up. Profit is up,” commented one reader. “If you have the inventory and the people, this is going to be an excellent year.”

Yet, more than one respondent commented that while business is stronger year-to-date, business has softened as of Aug. 1. “The last 60 days have been a real struggle,” wrote another respondent.

Of the 14 percent that said business was not up from last year, one noted that the cool wet weather that occurred in certain regions of the U.S. this summer impacted business during the peak season months of May through August. One reader noted that his sales were down 10 percent from last year.

One respondent in particular, however, appears to be reaping the benefits of a carefully mapped out business plan, citing that strong relationships with clients and referrals have kept his business strong. This reader also noted that the advancement of industry technology standards has added to his company’s success.

Thanks to our readers who participated in last week’s poll. We encourage you to continue to provide us your feedback. If there is a question you’d like us to ask, send your ideas to Managing Editor Amy Antenora at [email protected].

Stay tuned for the next “AMN Asks” poll!
