E-Publisher to Produce Catalog for New Spark Plug Company

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Vertical Development (VDI), through its e-Publisher content management system, is now helping aftermarket newcomer E3 Spark Plugs introduce its advanced ignition technology throughout North America.

Founded in 1997, E3 invested years of research developing an advanced electrode for spark plugs that would increase power output, reduce fuel consumption and decrease emissions. When they began marketing their new spark plug line earlier this year, E3 contracted Vertical Development.

“This was our first cataloging effort,” said Steve Joiner, E3’s vice president of sales and marketing. “To be effective, we needed a company that knew the aftermarket and could guide us.” Joiner said referrals led the company to Vertical Development and its e-Publisher system. “One of the key things that impressed us was the flexibility of the system, and that it would enable us to manage and update catalog data here. That was very appealing,” he said.

Using its e-Publisher software, VDI input spreadsheets of spark plug applications and part numbers, consolidating and linking the data to create a single relational database covering thousands of engines that can be retrofit with E3’s new technology. The system’s mapping process allows files to be exported in industry standard formats such as AAIA (ACES, PIES), Activant Solutions and Wrenchead.

E-Publisher has already helped E3 generate two new catalogs and export files mapped to Activant and Wrenchead specifications.
