WILMINGTON, Del. DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) has developed a field training process that educates customers regarding knowledge of and compliance with the requirements of EPA Rule 6H. This rule has been established to control the emissions of target Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) in the collision center environment and the surrounding community.
This field training is consistent with the training offered at DPC’s Refinish Systems Training Centers and covers the basic requirements for collision centers. These requirements are:
1. Collision center initial notification to the EPA that they are a HAPs source;
2. Collision center compliance notification to the EPA that they have received the required training (knowledge assessment) and have completed the performance evaluation portion of the certification;
3. Paint technician training; and
4. Collision center record-keeping requirements.
Details on the EPA Rule 6H and available training can be found at pc.dupont.com. Detailed information includes a summary of regulations, frequently asked questions, HAPs identification, field training for paint technicians and a video developed by the EPA featuring Jeff Gordon, the driver of the #24 DuPont Chevrolet.
