DST Unveils Enhancements to TurboParts Ordering System

MISSION VIEJO, CA — DST Inc. has unveiled a series of key enhancements to its Internet-based parts ordering system TurboParts. DST said it has expanded functionality and improved speed of the system in response to customer needs as usage exponentially grows and sophistication levels across supply chain tiers increase.

According to DST, three-step warehouse distributors will benefit from a new pass-through feature which creates a dynamic virtual storefront, expanding the initial reach of TurboParts from the WD to its dealership or jobber customer to the next tier — the service provider. As a result, service providers including independent service facilities, fleets and chains can utilize an Internet connection to their parts suppliers which directly accesses the inventory system of the appropriate WD, effectively eliminating the need for multiple time-consuming steps in the ordering process and dramatically improving the productivity of ordering and fulfillment personnel.

Further refinements to the integration of the Activant PartExpert e-catalog with TurboParts have been completed, the company said. Batch ordering functionality for sizable stock orders has been added to TurboParts, and the speed of TurboParts has been increased.

Each element of the initial TurboParts mission statement has been tracked and quantified in pilot programs, according to DST. Among the improvements noted, returns have decreased by almost 10 percent, said the company.

Hoon Chung, DST’s president and CEO, said more enhancements will be announced soon.
