TROY, Mich. — Delphi Corp. will lay off approximately 600 salaried employees in its electronics and safety division, according to a report from the Associated Press.
The division, which has 3,200 salaried workers in the U.S., will lay off employees as part of a cost-cutting plan that will reduce costs by 25 percent, the report said.
The cuts, which are being blamed on the drop in consumer demand, will take place primarily in business and engineering related roles at the company’s Kokomo, Ind., facility. Some of the job cuts could also come from the 455 salaried positions the division has in Michigan, including operations in Auburn Hills and Flint, according to the Detroit Free Press.
