AKRON, OH — Rodney O’Neal, president of Delphi Corp.’s dynamics, propulsion, thermal and interior sector, has been elected to Goodyear’s board of directors.
O’Neal, a 33-year veteran of the auto industry, was elected a Delphi vice president and president of its interior systems business when the auto parts maker was incorporated in 1998. Delphi was spun off from General Motors Corp. in 1999. He was named executive vice president and president of Delphi’s Safety, Thermal and Architecture Sector in 2000.
In his present position, which he has held since 2003, O’Neal is also responsible for Delphi’s operations in Europe and South America. He also serves as executive champion for its Ford Motor Co. customer team and is a member of the Delphi Strategy Board, the company’s top internal policy-making group. He began his career at General Motors in 1976.
“Rodney has demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout his many business management successes at General Motors and Delphi,” said Goodyear Chairman and CEO Robert Keegan. “We are confident he will make significant contributions to our board.”
The election of O’Neal brings the size of Goodyear’s board to ten members, nine of whom are independent.
