Dayco Offers Supercharger Belt Used by NMCA Champ

The same belt used by NMCA champion Chuck Watson on his factory super car is now available for purchase.

Dayco announced it is growing its line of high-performance racing products for today’s engine builders and race teams. The company wants fans and amateur and pro engine builders to know that they can now purchase the same belt that was used all season by Chuck Watson on his factory super car, which helped them cross the finish line this year as the NMCA champion.

For the last 18 months, the Dayco tech team has been working closely with teams like Watson Racing and Chris Duncan Racing, to test their new supercharger belt and other racing technology like tensioners, belts and balancers.

“We worked closely with the Dayco tech guys this year, testing their new supercharger belt and the results have been incredible,” said Chuck Watson, driver of the 2019 Cobra Jet Mustang that features Dayco supercharger belts and tensioners. “The belt’s design is definitely better than what we used previously and we noticed a huge difference under boost conditions, because the belt was able to keep its grip and help us cross the finish line.”

The Dayco supercharger belt launched this year with 17 part numbers for 150,000 vehicles in operation. Engineered and thoroughly tested for use on late model supercharged cars with light modifications like ZR1 Corvettes, Shelby Mustangs and SRT Hellcat applications, it features high stiffness PET cord, EPDM proprietary construction with aramid fibers and either 8 or 10 ribs depending on application. It also has aesthetic appeal as the belt features the Dayco racing logo imprint.

“Our product and tech teams are extremely committed and vested in the racing industry – it’s a passion for us – so we’ve been collaborating with teams across many racing circuits and are heavily focused on developing new technology that can help drivers level up come race time,” said Jay Buckley, director of product management, Dayco North America.

In addition to the supercharger belt, Dayco says it brought an 8mm blower belt to the racing circuit this past year. It features high-strength Teflon coated teeth for cogged drive pulleys and a carbon cord construction for extreme durability and performance on the street or track. Just like its 11mm blower belt predecessor, it was specifically engineered using real-world on-track data that enables it to withstand the rigors of 4,000 horsepower top alcohol dragsters and pro-modified race cars. It comes in multiple lengths and 50mm, 75mm and 84mm widths, according to the company.

Dayco also has a full line of both street and diesel performance harmonic balancers as well as underdrive racing performance balancers and supercharger balancers. Each balancer has laser etched timing marks and the racing series is specifically engineered to exceed SFI 18.1 ratings.
