Dayco Launches Electrically Controlled Water Pump Line

The new technology addresses a higher-than-normal failure rate with the OE pumps.

Dayco North America announced it launched a line of electrically controlled water pumps for 2017 and newer Detroit Diesel 13 and 15 variable speed engines. The new technology addresses a higher-than-normal failure rate technicians and fleet owners are experiencing with the original equipment replacement pumps, the company says.

The Dayco HD electrically controlled variable speed water pump will cover more than 350,000 vehicles on the road and be supported with a 250,000-mile warranty. Featuring an improved OE-engineered design for enhancing durability and increased longevity, this water pump is made from high-strength aluminum and uses only case-hardened roller bearings, according to Dayco.

“After 12 months of testing and rigorous R&D, we’re ready to showcase this product at HDAW and are excited that it’s now available and in stock for orders,” said Jay Buckley, director of product management for Dayco North America. “We believe this product will add value for our distributor customers and help improve profitability and customer satisfaction for repair techs who work on these big rigs.”

Dayco says these electrically controlled water pumps will round out its line of heavy-duty pumps, which offers coverage for 97% of the applications on the road today.
