PACIFIC GROVE, CA — David Kolman, veteran truck communicator and long-haul trucker, has joined the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB) as its associate director.
TRIB is a non-profit, member-supported industry association dedicated to the recycling of tires through retreading and repairing. Based in Pacific Grove, Calif., the bureau has more than 400 members throughout North America and in 28 other countries worldwide.
Kolman brings a unique background to TRIB that includes experience in both the trucking and communications industries, and in areas such as truck trade journalism, broadcasting, news reporting, freelance writing and photography and sales and marketing. He has hosted trucker television and radio programs and helped write trucking industry documentaries and video programs.
Kolman actively participates in a number of trade associations and groups. He helped found both the Used Truck Association and the Truck Writers of North America, and was commissioned an Honorary Colonel on the Kentucky governor’s staff for his work promoting traffic safety.
Kolman will operate out of Baltimore, Md., giving TRIB its first office on the East Coast. He will work closely with TRIB’s long-time Managing Director Harvey Brodsky. Kolman’s duties will center on providing the motoring public — both in the private and public sectors — with the most up-to-date information about the economic and environmental benefits of tire retreading and tire repairing.
