Cynthia Hutchison is Automation Alley’s vice president, responsible for managing the nonprofit association’s membership portfolio of 1,000-plus technology and manufacturing businesses across Michigan, enhancing the overall member experience and helping members succeed during the digital transformation known as Industry 4.0.
Hutchison has helped lead opportunities to maximize Automation Alley’s reach nationally and globally, including the development of programs related to the organization’s Industry 4.0 initiatives, the promotion of the organization as Michigan’s Industry 4.0 knowledge center and the organization’s distinction as the World Economic Forum’s Advanced Manufacturing Hub for North America.
In 2017, Hutchison introduced the popular Tech Takeover event series, which provides members an opportunity to showcase their expertise on smart technologies for Industry 4.0 to those in the manufacturing and technology fields. Additionally, she has brought in major sponsors and partners for Automation Alley’s Technology in Industry Report and global Industry 4.0 conference Integr8.
Hutchison also leads Automation Alley’s marketing and government affairs efforts.
Prior to joining Automation Alley, Hutchison founded Band of Angels, an international outreach organization dedicated to helping individuals with Down Syndrome reach their full potential. She was named Michiganian of the Year by the Detroit News in 2007. In November 2006, Woman’s Day Magazine named her one of nine national Women Who Inspire Us, an award that recognizes extraordinary women who push themselves to exceptional limits.
Hutchison holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Allegheny College.
