FINDLAY, OH — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. announced a partnership with the Formula Drift Championship Series. Under the agreement, Cooper will supply its ultra high performance Zeon ZPT tire to Formula Drift cars. The tiremaker also will have signage at each event, and its Mobile Tour will make select appearances at Formula Drift events.

The supply agreement is a way for Cooper to “expand (its) brand to an emerging market segment and a new customer base,” according to Carl Casalbore, vice president of marketing and retail sales at Cooper.

“Drifting is an opportunity for Cooper Tire to be a part of something that appeals to kids, young drivers and moms and dads,” added Ryan Sage, spokesperson for Formula Drift.

The Formula Drift Championship Series began its inaugural season at Road Atlanta, Apr. 24-25. Sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), Formula Drift will hold four events during its first season of competition. After Road Atlanta, the Formula Drift series will head to The Reliant Center in Houston, the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., and Irwindale Raceway in Irwindale, Calif., which hosted the first drifting event in the United States in 2003.

Cooper also sponsors Team Lexus’ drifting team. In addition, the tiremaker is title sponsor of the Ford Zetec 2000 Cooper Tire Championship Series and a supporter of Bob Land Off-Road Racing Team.
