ANN ARBOR, MI — Clevite reported today that its Churubusco, Ind., plant’s commitment to safety has led to one million work hours without a lost-time injury. Churubusco is the ninth Dana Corp. plant to achieve this milestone in the past decade.
“I am very proud of our 180 people and their efforts to maintain a safe work environment,” said John Black, plant manager. “Safety first is what we believe in and practice every day here at Churubusco.”
Black attributed the plant’s success to several key initiatives — an involved plant safety committee; monthly safety tours; a safety suggestion program; and “Safety Bingo,” a game designed to promote safety awareness.
The Churubusco plant is the master gasket packaging and distribution center, servicing NAPA, CARQUEST and Victor Reinz distributors across the U.S. and Canada. The last time the plant lost time due to an injury was in October 2002.
