Centric Parts Earns U.S. Patent for Stoptech Ultra Performance Aerohat

The StopTech AeroHat has directional standoffs on the rotor mounting surface, which the company says is unique to the industry, and is now protected by U.S. Patent #7380645 B1.

Los Angeles – Centric Parts has been issued a patent by the U.S. Patent Office for the AeroHat, created by StopTech, the ultra performance division of Centric.

The AeroHat induces air to flow between the rotor and the hat to improve cooling of the outer face of the rotor. Billet aluminum AeroHats are included in all StopTech Big Brake Kits with multi-piece rotors and in all AeroRotor Direct Replacement Kits.

The StopTech AeroHat has directional standoffs on the rotor mounting surface, which the company says is unique to the industry, and is now protected by U.S. Patent #7380645 B1.

This design increases airflow to the outside face of the rotor by 50- to 100-percent, adding up to 4 percent to the total brake system cooling airflow, according to the company. Increased airflow reduces the temperature difference between the inside and outside faces of the rotor, reducing outer pad wear as well as rotor coning distortion. When the AeroHat is combined with StopTech’s patented AeroRotor, the entire brake system airflow is improved by up to 11 percent compared to typical racing brake rotor designs, and as much as 80 percent compared to some original equipment rotor designs, said the company.

“The AeroHat and AeroRotor were developed by StopTech for driving enthusiasts looking to get the most out of their braking systems in performance situations both on and off the track,” stated Dan Lelchuk, President of Centric Parts.

The AeroHat represents the fifth patent awarded to Centric Parts.
