With its influence and popularity growing stronger everyday, NASCAR is now looking to create a new audience of younger fans. NASCAR has teamed up with the Cartoon Network to develop the ‘NASCARtoon Racing’ brand, a customized on-air and online campaign sponsored by Kellogg’s. The new brand is designed to engage young fans through the familiarity of their favorite Cartoon Network characters.

Del-Nat Tire Corp. has announced the launch of three new Web sites. The company has unveiled a new corporate Web site, as well as new sites for Delta Tire and National Tire. Del-Nat Tire Corp. is one of the largest privately owned distributors of private brand tires in the world. The company markets passenger, light truck, medium truck, OTR, farm and industrial tires to its stockholders under the Delta, National and Akuret brand names.

GenCorp Sells GDX Automotive Business to Investment Firm

GenCorp has signed a definitive agreement to sell its GDX Automotive business (GDX) to Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., a New York based investment firm. GDX makes rubber seals for the automotive industry. GenCorp will receive $147 million in cash for the business, on a debt-free cash-free basis. The sale is expected to close during the company’s fourth quarter, which ends on November 30.

Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League Conclude Discussions

The Indy Racing League issued a statement late last week announcing that the league has ended discussions with Champ Car World Series regarding the possible union of the two groups. In a discussion first initiated by Roger Penske, ownership representatives of Champ Car World Series and the Indy Racing League met with Penske to explore a possible unification of the two groups.

“Drive for Diversity” is now formally accepting resumes for experienced minority and female drivers and pit crew candidates interested in becoming part of the group’s development program for 2005. “Drive for Diversity” is a long-term initiative created to help develop and support well-trained minority and female drivers and crew members involved with NASCAR.

Amerityre Enters Accord to Sell Manufacturing Systems and to License Technology in Developing Countries

Amerityre Corporation has entered into an agreement with International Research and Development (IRD) in La Jolla, Calif., to introduce Amerityre’s polyurethane tire manufacturing technology in developing countries around the world. The term of the agreement is for three years and may be automatically renewed for successive three year terms.
