WAYNE, NJ — Castrol has created a new Business Improvement Training Series (BITS) developed to offer lube installers a cost-effective training solution. BITS incorporates video-based modules along with a leader’s guide and a training handbook for facilitators, learning guides for participants, assessments and evaluation forms.

BITS was developed to meet all of the requirements of Castrol’s ASE-certified Continuing Automotive Service Education program. The series covers training issues that are most important to installers, said Castrol. The program can be implemented on an as-needed basis and was designed so that store-level personnel will feel comfortable facilitating a training session. Most modules range from 30 to 45 minutes.

BITS launched in April with two videos: “New Employee Recruiting and Interviewing” and “Raising the Bar on Customer Service.” Castrol said the number of training modules will continue to grow, with a new video added each quarter.

The following topics will eventually be added to the BITS library:

* New Employee Orientation and Training (Q2 2004)

* Facility Imaging, Merchandising & Maintenance (Q3 2004)

* Employee Motivation & Retention (Q4 2004)

* Health & Safety in Your Shop (Q1 2005)

* Presenting Ancillary Services (Q2 2005)

This new program will provide training via a “packaged” solution. An initial membership of $50 includes one video of the installer’s choice, along with:

* Leader’s guide for the facilitator

* Learning guides for participants with assessments and evaluation forms

* Attendance sheets

* Leader’s evaluation form

* “How to Conduct an Effective Training Session” Handbook

* Assorted pens, markers, notepads and masking tape

* Castrol storage bag

Additional videos in the library are $20 each and will include:

* Leader’s guide for the facilitator

* Learning guides for participants with assessments and evaluation forms

* Attendance sheets

* Leader’s evaluation form
