Carcare.org Consumer Web Site Now Features Activant Service Intervals Database

Activant Solutions Inc., a provider of vertical ERP solutions, and the Car Care Council have announced that the extensive Activant Service Intervals vehicle maintenance database is now available for use by consumers through the carcare.org Web site.

AUSTIN, TX and BETHESDA, MD — Activant Solutions Inc., a provider of vertical ERP solutions, and the Car Care Council have announced that the extensive Activant Service Intervals vehicle maintenance database is now available for use by consumers through the carcare.org Web site.

Activant Service Intervals, powered by Mitchell1 data, enables consumers to quickly access detailed vehicle service schedules normally found only in their owner’s manual. Used in conjunction with the Activant ePartExpert electronic parts catalog – another key feature of the carcare.org Web site – Service Intervals encourages consumers to better manage the maintenance of their vehicles and, if they desire, identify the required replacement parts for virtually any repair. The Car Care Council and Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) estimate that nearly $60 billion in automotive maintenance and repairs go unperformed each year. About 85 percent of vehicles checked by independent service shops during “National Car Care Month” events in April failed one or more parts of the inspection.

“We thank Activant for their continued support in maximizing the value of the carcare.org site and encouraging consumers to protect their driving safety and the value of their vehicles through improved maintenance practices,” said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council.

Service Intervals, part of Activant’s ShopCat electronic catalog suite, is seamlessly integrated into a variety of professional service shop management systems, enabling technicians to remind customers of scheduled maintenance requirements.

“The addition of Service Intervals to carcare.org gives consumers another important reason to visit the industry’s ‘front door’ and become more proactively involved in vehicle maintenance,” said Steve Bieszczat, vice president of information services for Activant.

CarCare.org received more than 1.2 million individual visitors in 2004, according to the Car Care Council and AAIA. The site features a wealth of user-friendly content, including consumer-targeted articles covering maintenance and repair of most safety-critical parts and systems. Other widely used features are a repair shop/parts store locator and road-trip preparation guide.

Activant’s electronic catalog technologies – including ePartExpert, Service Intervals, Service Intervals Plus, PartExpert, LaserCat, ShopCat, and the Cover-to-Cover graphical eCat module – are used at approximately 27,000 business locations.
