DETROIT, MI — For decades, Detroit, Mich., has been the epicenter of the automotive industry. Now, the city will be known by another moniker as well. Detroit has been named the fattest city in the U.S., according to Men’s Fitness magazine.
Men’s Fitness annually lists the nation’s top 25 fattest cities. Detroit beat out Houston, Texas, this year, which held the top spot for the past three years.
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick said he blames cars — the city’s bread and butter — for the newfound round status.
“It’s probably something to do with the culture,” Kilpatrick told local journalists who asked about the report. “We’re not a walking city,” he said.
