Boston Consulting Group to Share Supplier Opportunities at Vision

Boston Consulting Group to Present at Vision

BCG will share insights from its landmark study on who will own the connectivity profit pools: OEMs or suppliers?

MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers — part of MEMA, The Vehicle Suppliers Association — has announced a session at its 2023 Vision Conference on Software Defined Vehicles: Bane or Blessing for the Auto Aftermarket. In this session, experts from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) will shed some insight from its landmark study on who will own the connectivity profit pools: OEMs or suppliers?

BCG’s Kevin Schimmelmann, managing director and partner, and Harrison Xue, partner, will join MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers during Vision’s morning sessions to discuss how suppliers can defend the independent aftermarket’s market share. Sharing use cases and exploring growth opportunities, Schimmelmann and Xue will outline how suppliers can participate in the connectivity opportunity and ensure their place in the industry’s transformation.

“The market is shifting toward software-defined vehicles (SDVs). That is the future of the automobile. As those numbers grow, so do profit pools, as they create new opportunities to create value for consumers,” explains Paul McCarthy, president and CEO of MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers. “BCG’s insights will detail how the aftermarket and aftermarket suppliers can get their fair share.”

“Landmark studies are a major annual deliverable at our Vision Conference,” says Phillip Atkins, director, strategic research and planning, MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers. “We are happy to have BCG join us for the first time to present findings from their study at this year’s conference.”

The 2023 Vision Conference is a must-attend event for all aftermarket professionals looking to stay on top of the latest industry trends and issues. Vision provides valuable insights and perspectives from a range of thought leaders in one full day of presentations, breakout sessions, and networking. The 2023 conference will be held at Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Ill. April 12. Pre- and post-conference sessions and council meetings are also part of the agenda to allow attendees to connect with peers and colleagues on the things that matter most to aftermarket suppliers.

Conference highlights include:

  • On-site meetings for MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers’ Business Technology Council (BTC), Modern Industry eXpertise (MiX), and Marketing Executives Council (MEC)
  • MEMA Advocacy Town Hall with Ann Wilson, senior vice president of Government Affairs

Do you speak spark plug? Most part numbers are a meaningless series of numbers and letters. But spark plugs have a language on the side of the box that can tell you what’s inside. Like any other language, there are dialects.

The nomenclature of spark plug part numbers can tell you everything from size (diameter and reach) to what materials are on the center and ground electrode. Like learning a new language, knowing how to translate spark plug numbers can open up a new way to inventory and sell spark plugs for counter professionals.
